Order of St. Luke The International Order of St. Luke is an ecumenical ministry of the Christian Church which seeks to promote the wholeness God intends for each of us by continuing the healing taught by Jesus. The work of the Order is complementary to medical practice, and its members include both clergy and lay people, including health care professionals from a variety of healing careers. The Order offers healing services and other forms of support and nurture. Healing services typically include laying on of hands, anointing with oil, and intercessory prayer. Prayer requests come from individuals seeking healing for themselves or for others and are initiated by a variety of situations, including illness (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), isolation, troubled or broken relationships, loss and grief, and end-of-life issues. Prayer is also requested in thanksgiving for healing that is occurring or has occurred. A person interested in becoming an OSL member begins a period of study and discernment by making application for associate membership. Study materials are provided to begin individual study, which is supplemented by group study, study with a full member, or participation in healing missions sponsored by various OSL chapters. The associate membership also includes a subscription to Sharing, the official publication of the Order. Individuals are inducted into the Order at the associate and full member levels when appropriate based upon their study and discernment related to participation in this ministry. Our OSL members offer healing prayer at the Sunday Services of Holy Eucharist, ordinarily on the first Sunday of each month at the early service and on the third Sunday of each month at the later service. Hospital and home visits can be arranged for parishioners requesting healing prayer. St. Clement's OSL members are part of the Piedmont Chapter that meets at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem.
