HUMILITY, THE QUIET VIRTUE Music is a Ministry: Music is a ministry that St. Clement’s needs. We are a community blessed with talented voices and musicians, let us use them. In order to use them on a regular basis, a commitment of time to rehearse must be made. We can do it. We will begin rehearsal soon because the Bishop, will be here in March and Easter falls in March as well. We need all voice, so come and join us. You will enjoy making beautiful music and having fun and fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ. In stock...Hats, tees, polo shirts, and a select few women's’ denim shirts are available in sizes from child’s small to adult 2X. Suitable for wearing to golf outings, basketball games, youth and outreach events, and parish picnics, the shirts and hats feature the Episcopal Church Shield and “St. Clement’s Episcopal Church” in a very high-quality three color embroidery. These items are sorted by size, style and color and can be found in the closet in the narthex on the right hand side (on the other side from the choir robes). Each drawer is labeled with its contents. Please mark your payment on the memo line: shirts/building fund and place it in the alms basin (or see a vestry member). All proceeds benefit the Building Fund! Now appearing in the Narthex…We now have an acrylic rack from the Forward Movement Publications – the same folks who bring us Forward Day by Day. You will find an assortment of publications on the rack, including the new Forwards as they are issued each quarter. Topics include prayer, the sacraments, grief, families and children, the Twelve Steps, stewardship, and talking to a friend who is seriously ill. There is a nominal charge for each pamphlet to offset costs and shipping. Also, we now have a literature rack next to the front door. This rack will hold larger format packets, like the ClementTimes, our Annual Report, and registration forms. For our younger members…Have you seen the collection of quiet toys for use upstairs in the Church? We have little felt story books, a soft-sculpture nativity set, and a soft-sculpture National Cathedral complete with high altar, pews and parishioners. Others are on their way. Also new in the nursery – thanks to Mark and Sherry Davidson who installed the new changing table (with pneumatic hinges and a place to hang the diaper bag!). We still have the changing table in the ladies’ room, but our Safe Church training tells us we need one in our nursery as well. The new table gives Dads a comfortable place to change little one’s diapers, too. Mailing List: Do you have a child that is currently away at college or in the military? Do they miss their church family? If so, then be sure to give the office their mailing address so they can receive our monthly newsletters. It’s always good to get some mail from “home”.
Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Learn to knit, crochet, or quilt if you like—beginners are welcome! Tuesdays @
10 am here at St. Clements. If you want to start a shawl, bring the following
supplies: Altar Flowers: Each Sunday the flowers on the altar are provided by parishioners. Sometimes there are reasons behind the dates selected by the donors, whether it is to remember the passing of a loved, to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, or it’s in thanksgiving for something great in their lives. If you would like to provide flowers for the altar, just print your name on any available Sunday on the sign-up sheet that is located on the bulletin board in the Narthex. Linda will call you the week before to remind you and to get your memorial information for the bulletin. Then it is up to you to decide to use a florist or to put an arrangement together yourself—it’s entirely up to you. Because the church office is closed Friday—Sundays, it is the responsibility of the donor to get the flowers to the church in time for the 8:45 service. Please do not hesitate to call the office if you have any questions or need any help. Parishioner Registration Forms: Please be sure to return you gold registration forms to the office as soon as possible. If you have any questions or would like to give your information over the phone, call Linda in the church office, Monday—Thursday, 8:30 am—12:20 pm.Hospital Visits: Are you planning a hospital visit? Has a hospital visit surprised you? Has someone you care about taken ill? Please contact the church office, a member of the vestry, or the Rector at home. With new privacy laws, we do not know until you tell us. When you visit someone at the hospital, your first question should be, "Have you called Candis (or your pastor) yet? May I make that call for you?" Prayer List: In an effort to have our prayer list as current as possible, names will appear on the list for 4 weeks, after that time, names will be removed unless the office is notified. If you need to add a name to the list or would like to have a name remain on the list, please contact Linda Turley at scepc@bellsouth.net House Blessing: St. Clement’s now has a set of service booklets for the Blessing of a Home. This beautiful service literally welcomes the Light of Christ into each room of your home and concludes with the Eucharist celebrated around your dining table. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a new beginning, reaffirm your journey with the Lord, and celebrate these blessings with your friends and family. Want to know more? Call Candis. The Magnetic Church: If you wish to learn more about the Magnetic Church we have their book in the church library or you can visit their web site at: www.magnetic-church.com Order of St. Luke: The International Order of St. Luke the Physician is an Ecumenical organization dedicated to the Christian Healing Ministry. The Order of St. Luke has members throughout North America and the world and welcomes inquiries about the healing ministry. The Piedmont Chapter of OSL meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 6:15pm. If you are interested in learning more about OSL please contact Rev. Candis Burgess or visit the website: www.orderofstluke.org.
